Call Me, REGENCY.
Regency inspiration is slowly & steadily creeping into our lives, and aren’t we all glad it is? The softness and romance is coupled with a simplicity and functionality that lacks the pretense often associated with the more formal elements of the over-arching Georgian period. The Regency period refers to the early 1800s when Prince George served as regent for his ailing father, King George in England, and Napoleon was pioneering the Empire style on the continent - in contrast, the English Regency style was simpler than Empire style, cleaner lines and more natural in feel. This was the era of Jane Austen, empire waistlines, and the English country manor house in all its glory.
the stand out find
Hill House’s 2024 Artist Edition Capsule is the stuff of dreams. I adored HH 1st collab last year with British chinoiserie artist Diane Hill, only it was pink (not my personal favorite color to wear), and thought “oh if only they made this in blue!”. Well, looks like they heard me.
Needless to say I snapped this on up in the empire-waist MATILDA style (AFF linked here). The cut of this style is so flattering, elegant & feminine without being frilly. I sized for the bust only, as the empire-waist/a-line skirt cut will only be fitted at the bust-line.
