Dress Blues
An ode to NAVY BLUE.
Starting out as a precious royal color, it wasn’t until the 1700s and the discovery of indigo in the Americas that blue began to take on a more functional role in human history. The British Navy implemented navy blue uniforms, communicating both authority and a degree of regality to their demeanor, at the same time the French Republic was doing the same. This is the time that all military “dress blues” decend from.
Polished and refined like black, but without the sobriety, navy blue evokes regality with complimentary tones.
