SPRING CROP: My Picks from all the Newness
I’m taking a far more paired back approach to my wardrobe these days - I like sleek, gently tailored looks that are smart, easy, and attractive. But beyond what I’m feeling, what is the zeitgeist saying about whats trending this spring? Well 2024 is all about “discreet chic”, eschewing flamboyant looks for thoughtful considerate fashion. Think Polo RL at Wimbledon, and you’ll have the right vibe. As for colors - neutrals, especially white, will rule this spring/summer - but punctuated with pops of tomato red & rose shades. For this Spring round up I thought about what items you all might be trying to add or replace in your wardrobes, and what you might need for Easter services & events, baptisms, and casual springtime fun. Spring new arrivals are also usually when I stock up on warm weather clothing simply because my skintone favors the cool spring colors, this might apply to you as well. I have also kept in mind the fact that cost of living is going up for everyone, so I edited out most of the pricier options I could have linked (with some standout exceptions) for easy shopping. So, with a nod to the trends but leaning into that spring energy - lets get into shopping!
easter finds
Dainty, country garden party-chic is the trend in spring dresses this year, and I AM HERE FOR IT. I have bought 2 of these dresses linked here, and I’m eyeing 2 more for my personal collection. So pretty! The country garden motif/color scheme is so flattering & timeless. My big wish list item is the navy peony dress by Hill House - such a good wardrobe addition, perfect for spring, summer, and fall. PS. The blue/violet jcrew shirt dress looks INFINITELY better in person - the model does not do it justice. See my feed for how I style it!
denim blues
You can’t go wrong with a classic blue. Wether you are leaning into the summer denims or staying preppy in blue & white stripes - blue looks good on everyone and is one of the most versatile colors. I simply ADORE these denim flats, which may need to join my collection. You all know I’m a fan of the casual lightweight blazer, and this chambray one from LOFT is perfect - a great easy way to dress up a tee or tank without the bulk of knit. This cap-sleeve chambray shirt is a staple for me (and I just rebought it because I gave mine to my SIL to use for BF-friendly clothes!) Oh - also I linked, in my opinion, the best affordable 5” denim short on the market this spring - in case anyone needs to replace theirs!
rosy reds
Red is trending guys, so that means its time to dip your toe in! For a very long time, red has been seen as a loud, almost garish color. Now red is having its moment as a sleek, strong color with character and depth. Think of the classic red nail polish look - it was tasteful & bold in the same breathe. I feel like the chic red ponte shirt linked below is a perfect example of that tasteful red elegance. Nothing says summer fun like a red dress, and HH delivered - linked below. Also for my ladies who think tomato doesn’t work with their skintone, I’ve linked these darling mary jane flats that pair beautifully with denims & whites. Also for my cooler ladies, I’ve linked some beautiful rose-tone pieces that will compliment but still give that rosy warmth. PS. all my PP ladies, these elastic linen blend pants are where it’s at - comes in multiple colors at an incredible price.
summer whites
Chic whites are a perennial part of the summer wardrobe. I’ve included some ponte knits like this stunning scoop neck tee, as well as my go-to tank top - great layering pieces with summer separates. I’ve also included the basic white lady jacket from Jcrew factory, a staple item at an affordable price. I jumped at this darling nautical stripe short sleeve top - how cute to dress up jeans? I’ve also linked some cute blouses, especially the scolloped-hemmed eyelet one from Gap. PS. All my BFing mommas, this white poncho is a chic way to stay covered on the go.
The white dress
These ladies needed their own moment to be appreciated properly. The broderie anglaise cotton shift dress is actually in clearance from last summer, finally discounted to a reasonable price, with glowing reviews - I will be ordering, so please don’t sell out the XXS! So timeless - this shift (or anything with broderie anglaise frankly) feels very classic European summer-esque (not a word, but we’re vibing). In the same vein, this cotton muslin dress with pintucking on the bodice is utterly divine. Rounding out this trio with a darling eyelet sundress from Target! Anything good at Target sells out before you can blink, so go grab it ASAP. At time of publishing, all sizes were available, so please don’t come for me.
growing green
I love a touch of green in the spring time, or any time for that matter, and there are some darling options this spring. I’ve linked some classics like the green & white cropped rugby shirt (classic Polo RL look), and the charming green shirtdress perfect for church or backyard bbqs. I’ve also included these adorable mint green chinos from Gap - a fun way to change up your denim drawer. Finally, this clover green tent dress nearly evaded me - it simple didn’t look good online. Then I popped into Old Navy to pick up clothes for my son and the store manager was wearing this dress and it looked SO DARN CUTE. Tried it on immediately & was smitten. See my feed for styling!
that extra touch
You can completely reinvent your wardrobe, with a few really good accessories. Shoes & belts, guys - its insane the difference they can make. On that note, there are some extraordinarily good ones on the market right now, so its time to stock up/replace/update all the things.
I did a whole styling with the Chanel-inspired slingbacks on my feed, check it out if you are curious on how to use them! Raffia mary jane flats & loafers - do I need to say more???? The loafers are from Birdies (you guys know I’m a fan) so you know they are as comfortable as a dream. I relinked the Amazon Hermes-inspired slides from last year that are perfect for easy summer days. I linked these dark brown kitten heels for anyone lucky enough to get them (my size has been sold out since launch!). Gap also is offering some very chic leather T-strap sandals that are such a great staple item that elongates the appearance of the foot (Jackie O pioneered this look). Linked some chic chic ballet flats (the woven leather has my heart) too. Finally, Belts!!!! I am so excited to offer you guys a very close match to my raffia belt you always ask me about. I’ve also linked a cute leather & raffia belt, and a leather adjustable belt (always good for non-standard ladies).
swim updates
You all know I am a classic girl, and my swimwear is no exception to that rule. If you are looking to update your swimwear here are some pieces I’m eyeing. I am on the hunt for a classic navy one-piece, and both of these options caught my eye. I LOVE this scollop-hemmed crochet dress for a swim coverup! So chic.
