Mother’s Day: a little something for her
MOTHER’S DAY is around the corner. Mother’s Day is one of those days that changes as we grow, doesn’t it? Especially if we become mothers too! For me, the day more and more illustrates to me “the thread” - the thread of maternal, and fundamentally feminine bond, a thread that weaves through women in a timeless tapestry, connecting all of us through the generations in the “legacy of the womb”. What a rich and vibrant legacy to celebrate!
Homemade ideas for little hands:
I can remember making elaborate cards for my mother back in the day, and I love the tradition of “made by hand” especially for children! It helps the gift be more heartfelt & authentic. However “handmade” doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice quality or usefulness - with the right materials & planning, a child’s homemade gift can be beautiful! We’ve painted canvases before (mine was 2 when he did this one!), this year we are block-printing a canvas tote bag as a Mother’s Day gift for Grandma.
Readymade little somethings:
But for us adults, sometimes sending something ready-made is the perfect way of saying “thinking of you, Mom” (especially when sending flowers isn’t realistic). Here’s a round up of some ideas of something nice to send your Mom, or just to treat yourself to, this Mother’s Day. There is a really great assortment of options here - for young moms, older moms, grandmas, and moms to be!
