Ok - ready, set, match. Valentines Day is coming, you’re gonna get a sitter, you’re going to go out and have the best … wait, what are you going to wear???? That annoying thought (that personally I loath, because its an admittance that you haven’t dresses up in a minute, and I love dressing up, so, UGH). There comes a point when you want to be a little more glamourous. A little more sexy. Not saying jeans aren’t sexy, but, glamour is the key word here.
I personally am of the opinion that the “date night looks” especially after you’ve had kids, is just as important as anything else in your wardrobe. I know a lot of moms who push glamour into a discarded amazon box, slap some tape on it and ship it to Bermuda once the kids arrive but, there is no need be that drastic! You’re pretty, you’re attractive, and I’m sure there is something about sparkle and silk that you love - no need to kiss it all goodbye just because you’ve had kids.
ESPECIALLY when it’s time to go out and have fun with your husband or partner. There is enough mundane in daily parenthood & marriage, that you’ve got to add some sparkle back in from time to time to keep the spark alive. I love that idea of “date your spouse” - of remembering & holding on to those experiences that caused you to fall in love in the first place.
I’m planning on wearing this GORGEOUS vintage Nanette Lepoure dress that I got in a secondhand shop in Manhattan in 2018, this Valentines. This dress is exactly the same age as me, but I love that it looks like a 1950’s Dior. Nanette was known for copying old European styles, so I guess this is very fitting. I paired this dress with earrings I wore on my wedding day - also vintage.
So, back to WHAT TO WEAR for you! I’ve got you. See my round up of date night picks below!
