What’s in my AMAZON Saves: Spring ‘24
I recently went looking for something I had put in my Amazon Saves list and realized I had a lot of really good items sitting on that list! So I decided this week to share my Amazon Saves list (and a few recent purchases) with you all.
Though I have a very long list of grievances with Amazon as a industrial monolith, I do concede a few points to them: 1) the global supplychain Amazon has created allows small businesses an international shipping ability previously impossible 2) Amazon has bought out small independent companies with innovative products and turned them into easily accessible commodities (ie. Mama Bear diapers). It’s a juggling act to try and support small/buy sustainablely, while also trying to get the best for your money in today’s industrial economy. However, by staying informed, supporting small (especially on a conglomerate like Amazon), and buying better/less, we can do our small part towards a better industrial future.
Household:
I think it’s no secret I love a quirky, unusual vase. A fun vase can lend so much to your decorating abilities - even weeds from the garden look good in a slightly more interesting vase, but a unique vase can still prove interesting sitting on its own on a shelf. These life-like red ranunculus flowers are such a good permanent flower arrangement option, especially for a nursery, guest room, or bathroom.
Julia of CLJ recently shared this Great Escapes to Europe coffee table book and I was smitten! These beautiful cotton light-filtering curtains are the ones I chose for our dining room - the wrapped loop detail really adds a layer of elegance to the overall look. I found this indie brand that sells classics-based puzzles and I LOVE this King Arthur one! Feels like a tapestry turned puzzle - love this for a boy or hubby gift, or simple to have available for game night. They also sell a Jane Austen one that is darling.
This stair basket/box is GENIUS. When I was growing up we had two sets of stairs in our house, and there was forever a pile of things at the base waiting to be taken up. What a game changer this basket is!!! These glass-like plastic plant feeders are going into my house plants asap - these ones I linked hold more than average (about a months worth of water for a houseplant) and the simple design is such a clean look for throughout your home. Finally, a cute AND affordable boot/shoe tray - need I say more, mamas??????
for the kids:
I have linked below the Carter’s tees I bought for my oldest son (4T) through Amazon - Carters offers bundled prices on Amazon they don’t offer on their website. Loved the the muted colors, classic stripes, and especially the fighter jet motif! This book, The Kissing Hand, was recommended to me as a good way to help kids adjust to the separation of school. I’ve linked one of the Burts Bees summer PJ’s I ordered for my kiddos as well!
This Leap Frog laptop was a recent purchase for my 4yr old. I have read a lot lately on the future of academics and technology (especially testing), and how more and more schools are using computer programs in the classroom as early as Kindergarten. In the interest of trying to set my son up for success when he starts school next year, we decided to get him this educational laptop for “pre-k practice” at home - not only does it help him practice basic pre-k principles, but also familiarizes him with how to use a computer. Love this lego travel-case for anyone who is shopping for a boys gift! Finally, Ana at In Honor of Design shared these slider chore-charts a while back and I think they are a brilliant idea.
